About Maria: Redefining Strength. Taking Action.
My Philosophy: Why I Work with Men
My experience has shown me that men often face unique obstacles in mental health. You're taught to power through, to suck it up, and that asking for help is a sign of weakness. That outdated script is costing too many men their relationships, their peace, and sometimes, their lives.
My deep commitment to this work started with a realization about my own young son and the masculine lens he'll use to see the world. I, too, was once disillusioned, buying into the trope that men are unemotional and don't have many needs. Working with men has smashed those tropes and showed me they need dedicated, intentional support. Therapy with me isn't a passive fix; it's an investment in a new kind of strength. It’s about building the internal tools required to handle pressure, manage conflict, and lead your life with intention.
My Approach: Direct, Intentional, and Grounded
My style is often described as warm, grounded, and gently direct. If you're looking for someone to simply nod, I'm not the right fit. I work collaboratively, but I will actively challenge the narratives and patterns that keep you stuck.
I integrate three primary areas in our work:
Somatic Insight: We pay attention to where emotions and stress live in your body. This isn't abstract talk, it’s practical work that gives you control over your reactions.
Mindfulness & Presence: Learning to pause and choose your response instead of reacting impulsively. This is the foundation for clearer communication and better decision-making.
Attachment-Informed: We examine the deep, often unseen patterns from your past that are showing up in your relationships today. Understanding why you connect (or disconnect) the way you do is key to change.
.
My Commitment to You: The Lighthouse
My commitment is to create a space where you feel genuinely seen and understood, yet also empowered to take meaningful action.
I will bring over a decade of clinical experience, a clear plan for our work together, and a dedication to your growth. I'm not walking your path, but I am like a lighthouse in the storm on the seas. I provide the clear, consistent light so you can steer your own ship.
In return, I ask that you show up honestly, ready to engage, and willing to challenge your own assumptions.
Here’s the truth: Therapy isn't about fixing you. It's about giving you a place where you don't need to carry it all on your own and learn the tools you need to feel more capable in your life.
